Medieval Literature

Study of a number of medieval literary works in translation, with occasional readings of the original texts. Students will acquire some familiarity with medieval French culture and languages, as well as a sense of literature in its many histories. Media, art, gender theory, religious studies and modern literary theory will be used to give contexts and life to the readings.
